About the Event
Building on the success of the 2023 event, Engage-AI once again sponsored the AI Summer School in 2024, held from July 21st to July 26th at Al Akhawayn University. This second edition of the summer school expanded its scope, focusing on closing the skills gap in AI product management, and brought together an even more diverse group of students, professionals, and AI enthusiasts.
The 2024 program offered a comprehensive five-day immersion into the world of Artificial Intelligence, featuring keynote sessions from leading AI specialists who discussed the strategic importance of AI across industries, recent developments, and the opportunities and challenges in AI-driven innovation. The curriculum emphasized real-world applications, with interactive workshops on AI development, deployment, data quality management, AI governance, and ethical issues.
Dynamic panels and discussions encouraged attendees to critically evaluate the local and global consequences of AI advancements, fostering a deeper understanding of AI’s role in future industries and national development.
The highlight of the 2024 event was the hackathon, where participants applied their newly gained knowledge to create AI solutions addressing one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The winning project, “3AFIA,” demonstrated the innovative use of drones equipped with advanced sensors and GIS technology for real-time wildfire detection and prediction. This project, powered by the SegFormer deep learning model, earned the team first place, showcasing AI’s potential to tackle critical global challenges.
Engage-AI’s continued sponsorship of the AI Summer School underscores its commitment to advancing AI education, ethical practices, and innovation. The 2024 event was a resounding success, equipping participants with the skills and real-world experience needed to thrive in the fast-paced AI industry, while also highlighting the importance of AI in addressing urgent global issues.
